Arrival and Dismissal

Please arrive at the classroom no more than 15 minutes before class begins. Parents and students are asked to wait in the lobby area until the instructor invites you inside the classroom. This is to ensure that the instructor has adequate set-up time and to keep students from accidentally interrupting a class happening prior to yours.

Parents are welcome to stay and observe class, however please ensure that we have few disruptions by keeping talking to a minimum and bringing restless siblings to the waiting area.

Sometimes, students do better when mom or dad isn’t watching. This is especially true for older kids. Parents may wait in the lobby or leave the facility to attend to other matters as long as you return in time to retrieve your child(ren). Prompt pick-up at the end of class will be greatly appreciated.

Class Location

All classes will be held at the Grove Theater, owned and operated by High Places Community Church.

The Grove Theater can be found behind Kroger at 123 Randolph Road, Oak Ridge, TN.

Classes will be located in the Drama Room. After entering the main doors, you may wait in the lobby until the instructor asks you to enter the classroom. The Drama Room is located through the Library in the lobby.

Inclement Weather

Parents will be notified of cancellations for inclement weather via e-mail. Please be sure to check your e-mail on days that the weather is questionable.

Refund Policy

Refunds generally will not be issued for any reason for any registration fees associated with classes taken through Forte Forest. There may be a few rare exceptions to this policy, such as, if a student is not able to participate in a class for which he/she was registered due to an unexpected injury or major illness.

Code of Conduct

The home school music classes are intended to provide children with opportunities to grow academically, musically, and socially. The goal is for students to feel free to participate fully and enjoy the music-making process without having to deal with off-task, disruptive, or disrespectful behaviors of other children. This can only be achieved when students work together with the teacher in an environment of mutual respect. In order to achieve an environment where students feel free to learn, I will hold all participants accountable to certain behavioral standards. Fighting, stealing, bullying, disrespect to staff, fellow participants, and/or materials will not be tolerated. Significant or consistent discipline problems may cause your child to be removed for the day or permanently dismissed from the class. If you are asked to pick up your child for disciplinary reasons, the teacher will determine when and if your child may return. No refunds will be given for children who are sent home for disciplinary reasons.

Medical Information

Medication: Medications will not be administered during class. If your child requires medication during class (including non-prescription medicines) please be present to administer the medication yourself.

Inhalers: Students may bring prescribed inhalers. If your child will be carrying an inhaler with them, please let the teacher know so that she may monitor your child and help remind them to use the inhaler if needed.

Allergies: If your child is allergic to any foods, insects, or materials (such as latex), please be sure the teacher is aware. While allergies should not be a major concern, since we will be indoors and not usually handing out any food, it is always best to be safe by ensuring the teacher is informed of any allergies and what type of reaction your child may have.

Emergencies: If there is a medical emergency during class, and you are not present, the teacher will first call 911 and then notify you. The teacher is CPR/First-Aid certified and will begin any basic First Aid treatment or CPR as necessary.

If your child is ill: Please do not bring any child who is ill or has a contagious ailment such as lice, pink-eye, etc. to class. Generally children should be fever-free for 24 hours in order to participate. If your child becomes ill or is injured during activities, you will be notified of what happened and how the situation was handled.

Photo Release

“My girls just LOVE Miss Kortney. She makes classes very fun and educational without them even realizing it. My girls remember what they learn and enjoy teaching to it to their younger sisters! Thank you Miss Kortney!”
